Neil Shirley
An impressive racer with many outstanding results, Neil, who races for the Jittery Joe's Professional Cycling Team, will be joining CCSD for some camp rides in 2007-2008.
Neil's easy-going demeanor and friendly presence make a nice complement to the CCSD team. Don't let this nice guy fool you though, because he is a ferocious competitor. When he is not out training in the hills of San Diego, he is on the road aggressively taking-on the competition—most recently getting 3rd in the US National Road Race Championships!
Neil has stood on the podium at races such as the Philadelphia Invitational and the Mountain Bike National Championships in Mammoth, and is also three-time California State Mountain Bike Champion—twice as a pro and once as a junior. Neil's long-term goal is to slowly build a high-quality coaching program over the next couple of years in which he will be able to share his years of training and racing experience as well as his passion for the sport.
Neil and his wife, Cindy, recently had their first child, Charlotte, in November. Neil feels very fortunate to have the support of his wife and family to continue pursuing ever more impressive goals as a professional cyclist.

Janel Holcomb
Her bright smile and friendly personality are true to Janel’s form and style, and it is a pleasure to have her join CCSD for the 2008 series of camps. Janel did her first ride of over 25 miles in January 2006 with Team in Training (TNT) in preparation for a century. The positive atmosphere of TNT led her to continue training with them for the Shasta Super-Century which included 16,000 feet of climbing, and it was here that Janel realized that this amount of intense riding was “her idea of fun!”
The transition to competitive cycling was natural; being that Janel was a competitive distance runner in college. During her inaugural race campaign in 2007, her immense talent was noticed immediately by Webcor Builders Professional Cycling Team, whereby she was asked to be a guest team member for the Bermuda Grand Prix. Her high-quality ride at that event ensured her a contract with the best women’s team in the US for 2008. Keep an eye out for Janel’s results with Webcor at upcoming NRC events.
Janel’s love of cycling is deeply rooted in working with all cyclists whether they are recreational riders, cycling enthusiasts, or serious racers. By joining CCSD, it is Janel’s hope to provide encouragement to others as they train to meet their goals; provide helpful information and inspiration; and teach others to ride safely, smartly, and have a blast while doing it.

Cody Stevenson
Cody Stevenson is a
27 year old, Australian, Pro Cyclist with the Jittery Joe’s Professional Cycling Team. Cody has been racing bikes from the tender age of 5, having progressed from BMX through MTB and finally on the road where he has made a name for himself as a sprinter and valued domestique. Having spent 5 years living in France and Belgium and having ridden for teams such as Cyclingnews.com, Cody brings to CCSD a wealth of experience from racing all over Australia, Europe and the United States. In his second year living in the states, Cody now resides in San Diego and can be seen on most days training with CCSD ride leader Neil Shirley.
Cody brings with him a great positive attitude (not in the early morning), an experienced and diverse view on training and bike set up, a good sense of humour, and a very Australian relaxed approach.
Despite his small stature and his laconic Aussie attitude, Cody is a tough rider and rapid sprinter having finished every tour he has competed in as a professional including: Qinghai Lake in China, placing 2nd on stage 2 amongst the likes of Liquigas, Bouyges Telecom and Skil Shimano; Circuito Montanes in Spain; the Tour of Hungary, twice (one stage win); and the Tour of Ireland (RAS) twice, as well as a number of smaller tours throughout the world.
Cody also has a rider diary on Cyclingnews.com
Below are some highlights from Cody's career:
(2006) 1st Stage 5 Tour of Gippsland
(2006) 1st Stage 6 Tour of Gippsland
(2006) 1st Victorian State Criterium
(2004) 1st Stage Tour of Hungary
(2006) 2nd Stage 2 Tour of Qinghai Lake 2.HC
(2006) 5th Stage 6 Tour of Qinghai Lake 2.HC
Jeff Clark
When not at the Tour of California performing neutral support with Mavic for the Pros, Jeff is helping CCSD campers make it through the week. His easy-going, helpful manner, brings a smile to everyone's face whether he's helping to ensure that your topped off with drinks and food, or servicing your hubs to make them roll smoother than ever! Needless to say, he is a very popular guy.
Jeff large mechanical knowledge stems from many hours wrenching at CCSD-sponsor, Big Ring Cyclery, along with studied knowledge from mechanical courses taken through USA Cycling. His biggest asset, besides his friendly-attitude, is his practical knowledge, as he himself rides over 300 miles a week. Bring Jeff a mechanical problem and he will not only fix it, but teach you how to fix along the way. Nothing makes him happier then a mechanical challenge--and and audience--so pull up a chair, because Professor Clark's classes are always in session at CCSD.
