Josephine Allen
Jo is a USA certified cycling coach and specializes in training cyclists for endurance events. Previously a rower in London, England, she has won 2 National gold medals and has twice won Henley Women’s Regatta. Jo started completing endurance cycling events when she retired from competitive rowing, starting with one day century rides and then moving to multi day events across Europe and the USA.
In 2010 Jo created "Think Pink Cycling Challenges," a 3 part cycling challenge which consisted of: riding all 8 stages of the Tour of California; Riding across the USA; and then completing the Cent Cols Challenge (a 1,300 mile, 10 day, 135,000 ft ascent ride through the French Alps).
Jo has also completed various Gran Fondo and cyclosportive events around Europe and the USA including: riding the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway; the Etape du Tour; and the Gran Fondo Novi Colli. She is also a member of the Club des Cinglès du Mont-Ventoux (literally translates are the ‘Club of the Crazies’): a closed club which is only open to those who have climbed Mont Ventoux (the ‘Giant of Provence’) by all three routes in the same day.
In her previous life, Jo was a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers working in Corporate Finance. During her Tour of California challenge Jo was supported by CCSD and was so impressed with the company that, after completing Think Pink Cycling Challenges, she swapped her corporate city life in London for a new challenge working with CCSD as Marketing Associate, Ride Leader and cycling coach.
Jeff Clark
When not at the Tour of California performing neutral support with Mavic for the Pros, Jeff is helping CCSD campers make it through the week. His easy-going, helpful manner, brings a smile to everyone's face whether he's helping to ensure that your topped off with drinks and food, or servicing your hubs to make them roll smoother than ever! Needless to say, he is a very popular guy.
Jeff large mechanical knowledge stems from many hours wrenching at CCSD-sponsor, BRC (formerly Big Ring Cyclery), along with studied knowledge from mechanical courses taken through USA Cycling. His biggest asset, besides his friendly-attitude, is his practical knowledge, as he himself rides over 300 miles a week. Bring Jeff a mechanical problem and he will not only fix it, but teach you how to fix along the way. Nothing makes him happier then a mechanical challenge--and and audience--so pull up a chair, because Professor Clark's classes are always in session at CCSD.
Bobby Carter
After a highly successful career in the United States Navy, Bobby retired to pursue his passion full-time: competitive cycling. His good nature and positive attitude complement the CCSD team. Plus his extensive knowledge, due to many years of training and racing, provides campers with an abundance of information on endurance climbing, nutrition for racing and training, and racing tactics. Bobby’s extensive palamares are listed below.

Janel Holcomb
Her bright smile and friendly personality are true to Janel’s form and style, and it is a pleasure to partner with her for the 2009 series of CCSD camps. Janel did her first ride of over 25 miles in January 2006 with Team in Training (TNT) in preparation for a century. The positive atmosphere of TNT led her to continue training with them for the Shasta Super-Century which included 16,000 feet of climbing, and it was here that Janel realized that this amount of intense riding was “her idea of fun!”
The transition to competitive cycling was natural; being that Janel was a competitive distance runner in college. During her inaugural race campaign in 2007, her immense talent was noticed immediately by Webcor Builders Professional Cycling Team, whereby she was asked to be a guest team member for the Bermuda Grand Prix. Her high-quality ride at that event ensured her a contract with the best women’s team in the US for 2008. Janel didn't let WebCor down--among other wins and high placings, she scored 1st place at the tough and world renowned Mad River Road Race at Green Mountain Stage Race, securing her 2nd place overall on GC. Keep an eye out for Janel’s results with Webcor at upcoming NRC events and at races in Europe for 2009.
Janel’s love of cycling is deeply rooted in working with all cyclists whether they are recreational riders, cycling enthusiasts, or serious racers. By partnering with CCSD, it is Janel’s hope to provide encouragement to others as they train to meet their goals; provide helpful information and inspiration; and teach others to ride safely, smartly, and have a blast while doing it.
